Le Parlour

There aren’t really places nearby to go, so the location only gets four stars from me. Still, it’s a perfect little oasis when you need to be near the airport or between adventures. Eileen was a gem. My friend and I felt like we were staying at a relative’s house, not a lodge. The amenities suited us perfectly. She cooked our lunch and dinner from scratch and helped with airport transport. There were Scrabble and a couple of other games for us to play, too. 11/10 stay :)

The four- or five-house compound has two to three bedrooms in each house, which works well for families or groups wanting to stay together. If you’re travelling solo, be aware you might share a house with guests in the other rooms. We paid about $45 a night, while nearby hotels were well over $200, so I was expecting the bare minimum. Instead, everything was clean, simple, and very comfortable. Our unit had air-conditioned bedrooms, a big plus, two bathrooms, a shared living area, a small kitchen space with a refrigerator, WiFi that worked well, and a small TV. It was all tidy and thoughtfully set up. Irene was a wonderful host. She made us a delicious dinner and arranged airport transport at a very reasonable price. If you want luxury or a hotel-style stay, this may not be for you. For comfort, cleanliness, AC, and good value, Le Parlour is hard to beat.

Irene, the owner and manager, was friendly, flexible, and easy to communicate with. It’s a family-run place, so don’t expect luxury, but by foreign standards it’s comfortable, quiet, and clean. Breakfast and lunch were 10/10. I’d give the room 8/10, a little bedside table and reading lamp would help. The AC worked perfectly, the bed was good, and there were mosquito nets. Cleanliness and staff both get 10/10 from me. They can arrange airport pickup and drop-off. They also sell souvenirs, and I used my last shillings to buy two T-shirts. Thank you!

We had a 12-hour layover, and I was so glad we stayed at Le Parlor. It’s set up as two private bedrooms and bathrooms within one shared cottage. The rooms and linens were clean, the beds comfortable, and the bathrooms private. The AC was cold, and thick curtains kept the room dark during the day. The staff couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating. They’ll arrange airport pickup and respond quickly by email when your flights change. Communication in fluent English was easy. Breakfast crepes and coffee were fresh and delicious. I felt very safe, and the WiFi signal was strong.
