Meru House Lekisilai

We only stayed one night, which was my one regret. It felt more like a guest house than a hotel, and every part of it was wonderful: the striking building, lovely rooms, thoughtful decor, pool, excellent food, and attentive service. We were looked after like royalty, with a level of care for the details I haven’t found at other top hotels in Paris, London, or New York.

The interior design and the place’s sweet story give it a really distinctive feel. It’s a green oasis in Arusha, with a lovely garden and pool where you can properly relax. The food is exquisite. I wouldn’t choose to stay anywhere else in town.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the house is full of lovely architectural and decorative details. Set back from the main road amid lush greenery, this small lodge has warm staff and professional owners who are ready to help with anything. A great place for a long weekend or a break after a demanding safari.

The facilities were awful: there was no hot water, the dusty rooms had no soundproofing, and the toilet wouldn’t flush. We’d confirmed the details in person before staying, including how many people would come, but the owner miscalculated, then changed her mind about the price and kept bothering us during the stay. She called it a “MISUNDERSTANDING,” though I believe it was her mistake. I don’t recommend this place. It was the worst, and staying here will stress you out and ruin your holiday.
