I didn't stay in a room, but the ones I saw looked satisfactory. Firefly has a big parking area and a dock looking out over the Indian Ocean, plus a pool, drinks and delicious food. It's a decent spot to relax or camp. If you've been meaning to finish a book, it seems like a good place to sit and read.

The upstairs rooms were bright, spacious and much more comfortable, and we really enjoyed staying in those. Our night in the dorm was a different story: the mattresses felt damp and a little musty, even though the linens were being changed. They seemed worn and humid underneath. The outdoor chill areas had a similar issue, with clean covers over run down, uncomfortable cushions and mattresses that made it hard to relax. I first came here seven years ago on a three month backpacking trip and loved the lively, warm atmosphere, with events, music and a real community feeling. Returning after all that time, the beautiful location was still nice to hang out in, but the vibe had changed. As travelers with hospitality backgrounds, we notice the atmosphere, and this time something felt off. The warmth and passion we remembered seemed to have faded, which was sad. The food was okay, though not especially memorable. For low budget travelers with simple expectations, it's still a cool place to spend time and meet people. Maybe I'm older now and want more comfort than I did seven years ago. Thanks to the whole team for having us.

For a place that's nice to hang out in, it was a big letdown as a dorm stay. We booked two nights at Tsh 40k per person per night, about 17 USD, after reading the reviews. The communal areas are cozy, the staff are friendly, and there's a great pool. It's central, close to the ocean and fish market, and the spacious parking area has a garden where you can play ball. It seems good for reading, relaxing or working on a laptop. The dorm itself was dusty and poorly maintained. Dust came off wherever I ran a finger, even on the concrete around the beds. The paint was peeling, and the sheets and pillowcases were very dirty and stained, so I had to buy my own pillow. The toilet floor gets slippery during or after a shower, so be careful. Its door faces the street, with enough space to see through. After seeing the condition, we didn't even ask for towels. Breakfast was very basic: you choose only one of bread with avocado paste, an omelette, or a plate of fruit, with tea or coffee. The normal rooms' prices made us think the dorm would at least be clean, but it wasn't. I've stayed in lodges for Tsh 20k-25k, about 8-10 USD, that were much cleaner. The low price doesn't excuse not maintaining or cleaning the place. I tried to make the best of our trip and didn't make a fuss, but I wouldn't stay another night.

The food was excellent, and the presentation was exceptional. It deserves a second visit. The setting shifts from a rustic, almost prehistoric alleyway to a foyer facing the pool and restaurant, where people were enjoying themselves.

After walking around Bagamoyo, we stopped in for food and drinks. The place felt so calm and serene, and the cocktails, juice and food were stunning.
