Delta Hotels Dar es Salaam Hotel

The way our reservation and the New Year’s Eve fireworks event were handled left us very disappointed in Delta Hotels by Marriott Bonvoy. We had booked early, followed up several times, and paid in advance to avoid problems, but our confirmed booking for two sea-view bedrooms wasn't honored. On arrival, one room had a city view instead. Then, although we repeatedly checked in advance whether we could order food separately during the buffet event and were told we could, guests were told just hours before the fireworks that separate orders weren't allowed. It effectively forced people to pay for the buffet, and the change was communicated very badly. They offered a 20 dollar (10 dollar a night) discount, which we hadn't asked for and which wasn't adequate. The service, communication, and reservation handling were extremely disappointing.

What stood out most was how kindly the team supported us after an unpleasant incident at the neighboring hotel “Slipway.” They handled it with real care and professionalism, and it made us feel we'd picked the right place. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and always smiling from the start. Our comfortable, spotless rooms were elegantly furnished, and the property's standard exceeded what we expected. We also loved the fresh, varied, high-quality food and the beautiful pool overlooking the ocean. This is the best hotel I've ever stayed at, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone wanting an unforgettable stay.

We had a really poor experience, mostly because of the service. Our sheets had visible blood stains, which made us question the cleanliness and hygiene. We also had to ask for drinking water more than five times, and still had to pay for it, even though it's an essential amenity. When we requested a toothbrush, the hotel wanted to charge a disproportionately high fee for such a basic item. The room didn't have one to begin with.

The room, service, and location were good, but we couldn't sleep through two events in one week. The hotel held parties with extremely loud music that went on almost until midnight. After one of them, taking down the setup made even more noise, with hammering like a construction site until 3am. The pool was also so dirty we didn't want to get in. The water wasn't clear, and there was dirt poop all over.
