Kibodya Hotel6

The calm atmosphere was a pleasant surprise given how central Kibodya Hotel 6 is on Nkrumah Street. My room was clean, kept up well, and had working air conditioning, while the hotel’s security helped me feel at ease. Check-in was easy, with a warm and professional welcome at reception. Breakfast arrived on time each morning and was fresh and tasty. The food service was good in general, and the price felt very affordable for the comfort, cleanliness, and service. I had a great stay in Dar es Salaam and would happily return, whether for a short visit or a longer one.

The spot works really well if you’re heading to the Zanzibar ferry or catching a train at Central Station. Rooms are basic, but the aircon works, and there are mosquito nets and running water. Good value.

I picked this hotel for its location, and it met my needs. It was only 700 m from the ferry point in Dar es salaam, so I walked over after an early, filling breakfast. I liked having breakfast served at my table. I arrived at 21:00 hrs, even though their official checkin time is until 18:00, and the staff kindly let me in. By then I was exhausted and didn’t feel up to going out for a meal. There was no dinner service or food pickup/delivery, and I went to bed without dinner. Online food delivery would have helped. The pillows were too firm for me and affected my sleep. There was no elevator either, so getting my suitcase down from the 3rd floor was a challenge.

Room 301 was spacious and had a balcony, AC, a fan, and hot water, though I didn’t really need the hot water. The room was clean, but the balcony was very dusty. Wi-Fi in there was painfully slow, even after I tried two different networks. The staff were friendly, and the location is excellent, right in the center near the ferry terminal, the main road for buses, and a supermarket. Breakfast was okay, just ginger tea, two slices of white bread, a plain omelette, and a banana. My stay was fine, but at 2500kes per night, the service didn’t quite feel worth the price, so three stars.
