For the price, this is a good place to stay during a layover by the airport. The room was clean and tidy, with good AC and a ceiling fan, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast wasn't great: a vegetable omelette with three slices of dry bread.

There’s no hot water in the room, and I couldn’t get a taxi nearby through Bolt or Uber, so I missed my flight. If you’re flying from the airport, I’d recommend staying in the city center, where there are many taxis and it’s easy to book one on Bolt at any time. The lodge has a car that can take you to the airport, but they charge 20K TZS for the 6km trip. When I said that was too expensive, they told me to ask a Bolt driver, even though there are actually no Bolt cars in this area. You need to book the lodge driver a day ahead; otherwise, he may say he wants to sleep and won't take you. Wi-Fi is available, but the room costs 40k per night with it and 30k without.

The town is quite far away, but this is a decent hotel for a layover beside the Dar airport. The area is quiet, with no traffic jams on the way to or from the airport. My room was tidy and had AC, and the really friendly staff helped arrange a taxi for 3am.

Mauya offers great service and good value for the money. I’d recommend it to anyone transiting through DSM Airport on a budget.
