One of the worst hotels in Dar Es Salaam. Breakfast is included, but there’s hardly anything to eat in the morning. There are very few staff, and they ask for money for every little bit of help. The rooms are cramped, and the whole hotel has a peculiar pesticide smell mixed with a foul odour.

It’s reasonably priced and right in the center, near the main tourist spots. The hotel itself isn’t great, but it mostly serves as a place to stay between transfers.

The city center location is convenient, the rooms looked clean, and staff were responsive enough. There are plenty of nearby places to eat, so the stay was manageable. But at $90 a night for one person, I found it poor value. The room felt small even for a single guest, there was no kettle or coffee maker, and no iron or ironing board. Breakfast was disappointing and didn’t seem worth the bed-and-breakfast price. I stayed at the nearby Golden tulip before, and it was a much better choice at a similar rate.

The hotel and rooms are pretty basic, though the staff were friendly. A few things went wrong during my stay, but they fixed them straight away. The location is great.

Right in the heart of Dar es Salaam city centre, and I felt safe and very welcome. Everyone I met on staff was friendly and ready to help, whatever the time. The room was modern and spotless, even in the little corners, and I especially liked having such a spacious bathroom. I didn’t get to try breakfast, though the restaurant looked good. A really wonderful stay, five stars!
