The Slow Leopard

This is a party hostel, absolutely the classic backpacker scene. I made some good friends, but couldn’t sleep either night because people were partying. If that basic social hostel vibe is what you want, you’ll probably enjoy it. The rooms were decent, and I liked the pod-style beds in most shared rooms for a bit of privacy. Each bed had a plug, light, and shelf. The mattresses were very firm, which is common in Tanzania, but the pillow was great. Cleanliness was okay overall, though our room ran out of soap and toilet paper and the bathroom needed a proper scrub. Showers were warm. The restaurant food was decent for an okay price, nothing special either way, and the included breakfast was good.

If you want to be in Europe, go there. It feels like a white male men spot. There were cats peeing around. The dormitory was like a cave, with no lights and no air. Breakfast was small, and management was arrogant. One waitress, Jasmin, was 10/10.

I went for lunch and was disappointed. The fries seemed like old ones reheated, and they were really oily. My broccoli and cauliflower bowl was quite salty and had very few pieces of everything, so I barely ate any of it. The iced coffee I ordered wasn’t good either.

I came to work and study for a while, and the calm, quiet feel made it a good day out of the office. There was soft music, service was quick, and the servers were polite. The coffee was great; the food was okay. Definitely worth spending the day there.
