Aquamarina Hotel

Our suite and its private pool were the best parts of our stay at Aquamarina Hotel. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the pool was genuinely beautiful. But the rest of the experience fell short. The hotel had only a few guests and felt almost empty, leaving it quiet in a lifeless way rather than like a holiday spot. It’s very isolated, with nowhere to walk to. The deserted road nearby didn’t feel suitable for walking, by day or evening, so we had to take taxis. Even a roughly 15-minute ride cost around 30 USD, which is extremely expensive. Tides also meant we couldn’t enjoy the beach or swim in the sea during our stay. Dining was another disappointment. The restaurant had one limited menu, no variety, and food that didn’t warrant its very high prices. Breakfast offered little choice most days, usually pancakes, crêpes, or waffles and nothing else. With the limited meals, transport costs, and lack of atmosphere, the lovely room and pool weren’t enough for us. It might suit people looking for total isolation, but it wasn’t right for us.

The staff are friendly and very helpful, and there’s a great view with a good beach. The rooms are clean, the air conditioning works well, and the pool is nice. Food was below par, though: the tuna was overcooked and dry, and prices are on the high side. Breakfast was one piece of bacon, a very small sausage, and cold toast. Drinks took a long time to be refilled, and they didn’t replenish the coffee in our room or the toilet paper.

We had a wonderful, quiet stay at Aquamarina. The villa was clean and spacious, with cooking facilities, and felt like home. The house team cleaned our rooms daily, and the restaurant meals were tasty and made to our request. Sharif was helpful and supportive, and a special thank you to Manager Abbas for being so attentive and helpful. Everyone working here was friendly and welcoming. There are beautiful views and a paradise beach just a two-minute walk away. It was peaceful and very clean, and we had a lovely time. Thanks to everyone at Aquamarina for making our holiday special!

Abbas, the manager, was especially warm and accommodating, and he and the rest of the staff made us feel welcome and relaxed straight away. We had a wonderful stay, with good food and drinks and pleasant, attentive service. The hotel is a little way from Jambiani, but we didn’t mind. The quiet setting and ocean views are nicer without a crowd. We’ll look for this place again on our next island trip.
