We’ve stayed in hotels and hostels around Zanzibar, but this place stood out. The property is spotless and has a cozy feel that made us comfortable right away. Breakfasts were fresh, nicely prepared, and very generous. The staff were warm, friendly, and always helpful, and we felt cared for throughout. For this price, we don’t think there’s anything better to find. A perfect Zanzibar stay, and we wholeheartedly recommend it!

Mariam made my visit memorable with her thoughtful, personal hospitality. She checked that I had everything I needed for a good stay, and her local tips made my trip even better. Her genuine warmth and dedication really stood out. From the moment I arrived at Barabara house, she made me feel comfortable. She was always around with a smile and ready to help, even with small things. I can’t recommend the place enough, especially with Mariam there to look after guests. Thank you, Mariam 🤗

We enjoyed our stay so much that we added another night, so we could spend our last night on Zanzibar here. The rooms were clean and welcoming, and it was good value. Staff were really friendly, and breakfast was tasty: eggs cooked to order, fruit, a fresh smoothie, and tea or africafe. The location may feel a little down the road for some, but there are lots of tasty restaurants nearby and good bars with happy hour. We had a great time and would happily recommend staying here.

The food was a real highlight, with great choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The eggplant dish was especially good. Meryam, Chef Kashmir, Chef Suleiman, Tumi, and Isak all went out of their way to make my week unforgettable. Bara Bara House is beautiful and inviting, with a calm atmosphere and a community feel. It’s just a five-minute walk to the beach. I felt at home throughout my stay in the heart of Jambiani, and loved the personal, warm hospitality. Can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended for a memorable stay and great food!

We stayed for three nights out of season, and service and quality were still good. It felt very much like home. The beach is a short walk away, and dinner was adequate. Breakfast was adequate too, but needs work. An over-fried egg with no bread isn’t the best offering.
