It’s a peaceful little place if that’s what you’re after, with just six rooms, so it feels very homey. My room had an ocean view and a hammock, which was fantastic. The rooms look like the pictures, and the staff were wonderful. We also really liked the food.

We only ate at the restaurant with our friends, so I’m rating the service and location from that visit. The staff were very kind, and the food was great. Our grilled seafood took over an hour to arrive, which we understood since we’d ordered it for everyone, but it would have helped if someone had told us the wait would be that long. Also, be aware they don’t take cards. Luckily one of our friends had dollars in cash to cover the bill, otherwise we weren’t sure how we’d pay.

The room was comfortable and elegant, but it was the kindness of the whole team that made us feel at home from the start. Everyone was attentive and professional. I especially appreciated that the chef took care to make delicious gluten-free dishes for me. The manager and owner’s passion showed in all the details, and the hotel felt like a happy little haven. We’re leaving with lovely memories and already want to come back soon. We’ll be telling people about it. With thanks, Manon and Alex

We spent five nights at Mamamapambo, and it became one of the best parts of our Zanzibar trip. We’d been looking around the beaches in Paje and Jambiani and had seen other hotels, but this one stood out. The team were welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived, and the manager was especially friendly. His suggestions and help planning our days really added to the trip. Our room was clean and well cared for, and the whole property had a great feel. We also loved breakfast and the ocean-view spots where we could relax. It’s a great place for a restful, memorable stay.

Mamamapambo has a really welcoming feel, and the setting is quiet and relaxing. There are some great local restaurants close by, while Paje is just a short way off if you want more activity. I’d recommend it if you’re after a calm, restful stay in Zanzibar.
