Karatu Villas Lodge

A safari hiccup meant my husband and I stayed at these sweet villas much longer than the one night we expected. I joked that it was the best gluten free restaurant and I sleep here. The gluten free food really was the best, and the service was too. The staff took special care of us and the rest of our party. The room was very comfortable, with the best plumbing and biggest bathroom we experienced in Tanzania. We also loved the delightful pool. I wasn't even sad about the safari plans changing because we had such a good time at the villas.

The main downside was the smoke. Both nights, fires burning on the street right beside the hotel made the air and our room smoky, and we had trouble sleeping. We stayed two non-consecutive nights at Karatu Villas during a week-long safari. The staff were welcoming and attentive, with great service. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and we enjoyed time by the pool. The food was okay, though it seemed quite dry from sitting in the heated buffet trays.

We really enjoyed the pool, the food, and the very friendly staff after our time in Tarangire national park. The rooms were spacious and beautiful too. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you need a place in karatu.

Our villa was lovely, and the staff were always smiling and ready to help. The food was warm and filling too. We stayed one night on the way back from Ngorongoro and were very happy with it.
