I didn’t stay at the hotel, just visited its small beach bar. The staff were welcoming, and I liked the view and atmosphere. But it was extremely expensive, especially since the bar was usually empty and many days it was just the two of us there. We happened to visit during Ramadan, when most restaurants were closed in the daytime, so there weren’t many other choices. The setting and location made the price somewhat understandable, but 6 x2 dollars for a 330ml Coke felt steep. There was no electricity then, so I had to climb about 30 steps into the hotel to pay and then come back down. That’s why I’m giving it three stars.

The beach is easy to reach, and the view is to die for. We found the rooms clean, the food delicious, and the staff friendly and attentive. My family and I, including our two children, had a calm, beautiful vacation at Shooting Star Boutique Hotel. It really felt like heaven on earth, and I’d go back. Getting there from the US was a long journey, but completely worth it. Definitely five stars for me.

We couldn’t get any proper rest during our stay because of the very loud construction right behind the hotel. Work started at 7:45 AM every day and carried on until 4:00 PM, with nowhere we could get away from the noise. I wish we’d been told when booking. If we had known, we wouldn’t have chosen this hotel.

There aren’t many restaurants nearby, so we had all our dinners at the hotel. That worked out fine: the food and service were top-notch. Breakfast was excellent, and the wait staff were superb. We loved the infinity pool looking out over the ocean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We spent a week at the Shooting Star and enjoyed every minute, especially the laid-back atmosphere.

When we ran into problems with the electricity in our room, the owners and staff moved us to a house right away. That house then had a pump issue, which they fixed immediately. They felt so bad about the trouble that they treated us to a chef-cooked meal with wine on the beach. You can tell these are people who care. The place was immaculate and right by the water, with excellent food and a masseuse on site. I’d happily stay there again and highly recommend it.
