VOI Kiwengwa Resort

There were problems at every turn. I paid for my stay, but when I asked about bringing in outside guests, like friends or a photographer, the staff couldn’t show me any written policy. They refused to let my booked photographer in to take beach pictures. We had to enter the beach another way, and even then we weren’t allowed to take photos near the sun beds. I also lost my pool towel card and was charged 30€ for a replacement. That felt like money stealing. The reception staff didn’t seem friendly or helpful. Even small things apparently needed approval from a “management agent,” so I felt like I wasn’t allowed to do anything. On the beach, local guys who seemed to work for the resort kept shouting at me, asking my name and following me around. It was just annoying.

We had a good time at Voi Kiwenga. The food, service and location were all good. The rooms weren’t as comfortable, though: the beds were very hard, and even after we asked for different pillows, it was still uncomfortable. There wasn’t a kettle in the room either. Still, it was a good stay overall.

The resort had a beautiful look with African vibes, and our room was cleaned daily with bottled water left for us each day. The staff were lovely, and there was a good range of food that we enjoyed trying. Most of the resort programs were in Italian, with very little translation into English or other languages. On the beach, the Maasai sellers kept approaching us to buy souvenirs, and they were hard to get away from, so we mostly stayed on the sunbed.

Really nice view from the hotel beach, well-kept rooms, and kind staff. The service was great too. 9🌴/10🌴
