Kusini Beach Bungalows

The grounds were really well kept, and we enjoyed the outdoor bathroom. It felt open and comfortable. The food was good and the views were pretty, though there isn't a beach. At low tide we walked down to explore, and water shoes are a good idea for that. It's about a 10-minute walk to swim with turtles, and a nice place for a group or a short break. On our last day, rain came into our room and it started flooding. Staff took almost two hours to respond. No one else in our group had this problem, but we were disappointed with how it was handled. They did move us to another room for the last few hours, but there were no towels or toiletries. Without that experience, service would have earned four stars and I would have rated the stay higher.

The bathrooms are outdoors, which we loved, and you can swim or snorkel right there. They also arrange tours. The pool, lounging space, and restaurant were all great, and the stay was lovely for a remote part of Zanzibar. The last kilometer of road is rough and uneven, and because you're far out, there aren't many other restaurant choices. We walked into town for supplies and it wasn't too far. If they can increase the electrical capacity, adding AC to the rooms would be our one suggestion. Thanks for having us!

We waited more than two hours for the starters, and the service was painfully slow from the start. When the food finally came, it was poorly cooked and bland. After waiting that long, we expected at least decent food, but it was a letdown. The staff didn't respond to our concerns about either the delay or the food and seemed indifferent. The whole meal was incredibly frustrating, and apologies can't make up for an experience this bad. There was definitely no “hakuna matata” here. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

My favorite place to stay in Zanzibar by far. The location is perfect, the gardens are incredible, and it has a real African feel.
