The coffee, tea, cakes, and food are all lovely. Alibi’s well is a local college, and students serve guests at its cafe and small restaurant while getting hands-on experience and growing more confident with each visit. Spending money here supports a good cause. Mamma Pati, the founder, has devoted her life to teaching young Tanzanian women and men skills for their future careers. One of the best places in Zanzibar.
Alibi's Well is a lovely place to stay, and you may find yourself slipping into terminal relaxation before long. The spacious, well-equipped rooms include a luxury suite, and the service is outstanding. The restaurant is part of the Jambiani Tourism Training Institute (JTTI), founded in 2007 to train local people for jobs in the growing tourism sector. It once taught up to 350 students a year, though the Institute is currently not operating because of unfortunate circumstances. Staying here helps support its reopening. A great option in its own right, too.
