Juani beach bungalows

Juani bungalow is a lovely place to enjoy the Mafia island vibe, with local people and great food. Mussa is a wonderful host who welcomes you like family. His team is always around to make the stay easier, and he helps with all sorts of questions, from ordering a tuk-tuk to getting ferry tickets.

I can't speak to the accommodation itself, which I have no doubt is nice and beautifully located, because unfortunately we never got to visit. We booked directly more than a month in advance, without a platform, and paid that same day. Three days later we found out we couldn't make the trip, so I asked whether any of the payment could be returned since our booking had only blocked the room for three days. I was told not to worry and that the money would be paid back. For weeks, I kept hearing things like "i do it tomorrow, i do it today evening". Now there's no reply at all. The communication has been unclear and the whole thing feels very shady. Be aware that if something goes wrong, you may be left on your own.

Moussa, the owner, is so welcoming and helpful, and the team, including Milka, Ouasili, Eddy, and Bahat, are kind, fun, and always trying to help with requests. They also arrange great outings, including whale shark spotting and snorkeling day trips. The bungalows sit under palm trees right on a sandy beach facing the sea. I'd recommend a second-line bungalow if you want a little more peace and quiet, away from the restaurant and the area where tours gather. It's a wonderful place to relax and discover the beauty of Mafia Island. I highly recommend this little paradise and can't wait to come back!

Mussa is a Mafia local and an absolute legend. It's a fantastic, authentic place with a relaxed feel right on the beach. Great for a swim or for watching the sunset by the bonfire. They can arrange whale shark trips and other activities, and the meals and beers are good and very reasonably priced. Even if you're not staying here, it's worth popping in for a drink and the sunset.
