Anna and her husband Vincent live next door and were attentive to every detail. We spent a day at Sunbird Cottage near the base of Kilimanjaro, and the place felt cozy and comfortable, with lovely decor. The chef greeted us warmly, cooked a delicious meal, and arranged excellent massages for all of us. Set inside a beautiful golf club, it’s a great lodging option near Arusha. Highly recommended.

Samson gave us such a warm welcome, and Ann, the owner, was helpful, kind, and charming. Sunbird cottage felt like a home away from home, with spotless, spacious rooms, beautiful furniture, huge beds, and plenty of places to relax. There’s a cozy fireplace, good books, and an inviting pool, plus the golf course is just a few minutes’ walk away. Worth every cent.

We chose Sunbird Cottage & The Annex for a family gathering to celebrate our mother’s 70th birthday, and it became a magical base for our time in Africa. We visited friends in Usa River and used it as a transit point for Tarangire National Park, Arusha, Dar Es Salaam and Zanzibar. The property sits within Kilimanjaro Golf and Wildlife Estate, where golfers, wilder-beast and antelopes roam the championship course designed by David Jones. It’s ideal for golfers, and has that authentic “Out of Africa” feel. The cottage itself is distinctive and inviting, with high ceilings, lots of light, and a fully equipped, spacious kitchen. We shared the beautiful place as a family, with its open-plan living and dining area making it easy to gather in the mornings and evenings, while still leaving room for privacy. Anna and her team were wonderful hosts. We especially loved the birdlife and the peace and quiet, and spent a lazy afternoon enjoying the private pool. We still dream about our time there.

The cottage is beautifully furnished and in a great spot, right by the 7th tee and only a short walk from the main club house. An amazing place to stay, highly recommended!
