Asmini Palace Hotel

The staff made us feel welcome, especially the assistant manager at reception. As a local tourist, I never felt ignored or disrespected, which added a lot to our stay. We tried the hotel after reading good reviews, and it lived up to them. The building has been beautifully restored, although I think the decor could be improved. Breakfast could offer more choice, especially for the bed-and-breakfast price, and the Wi-Fi could be faster. Still, I heartily recommend staying here and am eager to return, largely because of the amazing older male receptionist.

We were comfortable and slept well, thanks in part to the A/C, which worked very well and kept the room cool and dry. Our room on the 3rd floor was spacious, with quality wooden furniture and an authentic feel; having an elevator was appreciated. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our great 3 night stay. The hotel is minutes from the food markets and ocean promenade, and there’s a huge parking lot a 1 minute walk away if you have a rental car. We’d happily stay again. Thank you!

The welcome from the staff was very good. Everyone was nice, helpful, and focused on guests, which made it easier to overlook the hotel’s need for refurbishment. The building is beautiful, on a quiet little street, and the location is very good. Rooms are large, clean, and have AC, a kettle, and a fridge, though the equipment is old. Breakfast is generous and pleasant to have on the rooftop. Good value for money.

We booked at the last minute that night after our AirBnB fell through. It was affordable and not too crowded. Breakfast on the rooftop came with a stunning city view, and the bathrooms and shower facilities were fairly nice. Rooms had bednets and fridges, and the staff stored our bags when we left. They were also happy to arrange taxis and spice tours when we wanted. The hotel is tough to find in Stone Town’s cramped, winding streets, and the front desk wasn’t staffed by a manager late at night. Still, the location is prime, very close to the old fort, palace, and house of wonders.
