Traveling with our daughter was easy here. She was happy every day, with animals, nature, a monkey, dogs, cats and staff who played with her to keep her entertained. We could relax knowing she was comfortable. The beach is about 50 meters away along a short path, and Michamvi is less touristy than other parts of Zanzibar, which was a big plus for us. This place has great potential. We spent a week at Mpole Bungalows and really fell in love with it. It felt like staying at friends’ countryside home, warm, relaxed and personal. The grounds are beautifully maintained, there’s a nice pool, and the restaurant food was delicious. The staff did everything they could for us and were very attentive to our requests. We spent two weeks at Mpole in December and loved it. There’s a lovely beach just a few meters away, with one of the best sunset views in Zanzibar. The staff were very friendly, and the Spanish owner was super helpful. And then there’s Babilonia, the monkey! From the moment you arrive, the place has a chilled, relaxed atmosphere that makes you enjoy the here and now. We miss it and will definitely come back!

The lodge has a really nice vibe, and the staff were friendly, so I’ll give it three stars. We went for lunch, but the restaurant was very basic, with no decorations or tablecloths, and the food was really not good. The seafood pasta had only a few small pieces of fish and tasted like tomato pasta. We specifically asked for the grilled tuna medium rare, but it came overcooked.

If you want a low-cost island stay by the beach, with kindness, local people and culture, and a clean, friendly setting, this might be your place. It’s raw island life, nature and natural eco touches like shells and coconut, with no AC but a fresh natural breeze. It’s not about luxury or perfection. Wi-Fi doesn’t work all the time, so you can disconnect, slow down and feel the real Zanzibar rather than a tourist bubble. At least my family and I loved it! 🏝️🌱🏖️

Mpole was a wonderful stay. I loved the peaceful atmosphere, and the clean, comfortable rooms were well maintained. The staff were kind, welcoming and always ready to help with anything I needed. It felt like a home away from home. I’ll definitely return and recommend Mpole Hotel to anyone visiting the area. 😊
