The dinner was especially wonderful. I’ve never eaten so well in Africa. Thanks, Michelle, for such a lovely evening, and thanks to Werner for his kind help. I had the pleasure of staying one night at Hotel Acropol and loved it. For little money, you get a beautiful, spacious room, and the staff were phenomenal. I’ll definitely come back.

The food can be delicious and really good some days, then disappointing on others, so it’s a gamble. “The fish smells from its head.” This place has huge potential, with a rich history and a unique setting and interior design, but the owners are very strange.

There’s a cozy courtyard and garden overlooking the Ulugurus mountains, and it stays quiet despite being on main morogoro rd. It’s close to downtown and the station. The rooms are comfortable, though old fashioned. The bungalow style is quaint, the bar has a nice atmosphere and often draws interesting travellers and locals, and the western food is excellent, if a bit expensive. Portions are large.

The setting is quaint and the food is nice, but I wouldn’t spend the night here. I looked at the double bed in one room, and its mattress felt hard and didn’t conform to your body. I think it was decades old.
