Kilemakyaro Mountain Lodge

The one person who really helped was the manager. When we explained that we had an early flight and needed breakfast boxes and someone for our luggage at 5:30am, she happily arranged it. The rest of the service was disappointing. Breakfast was supposed to start at 7am, but when we arrived then before our 7:30am Kilimanjaro trek, nobody was there. We finally got bread at 7:30 and had to run with it. In 20 countries of travel, this was the first room I’d had without even a basic kettle and tea bags. The receptionist was arrogant.

The history is intriguing, and the staff are very friendly. It’s a nice spot for a family outing and a bite to eat.

Set in a peaceful coffee farm, the grounds and views are amazing. It’s a beautiful place, though it could use some care and updates to the shared restaurant, reception, and bar areas.

The property is beautiful, the rooms are very nice, and the hot showers were perfect. Food was another matter. Half of our 30 member team got diarrhea or started vomiting, and it looked like older food from previous days was being reused in new dishes. A lot of the food was cold too. The WIFI was weak and kept cutting out, especially with lots of visitors. Some days we had to go without it.
