Volunteer Hostel

I spent four great weeks at TVH. Clever was a legend, always friendly and around for questions, a chat, or help. The place felt comfortable and safe, with more support than I got at some other volunteer hostels. Food was good, mixing local and Western dishes, and you could buy beer from the hostel fridge at a normal price. It's a quick tuk-tuk ride into town, and Amuzz is really close, which was a big bonus. The backyard also has a huge tortoise and its baby, plus a lovely guard dog named Lillie ❤️. There's even a sauna! Happy to answer questions if anyone gets in touch.

I felt at home here, and TVL will always have a place in my heart ❤️. Coming to stay was a simple, safe way to take my first solo trip. The cultural, language, and town orientations made it much easier to live and work here. The staff were kind and genuine, and they helped me sort out everything, big or small. Whenever I had a question, I could ask and got an answer.

We loved staying at TVL and would recommend it to anyone. I was there for a month with two friends, and Clever, Angela, Husna, and Luis made us feel at home and did so much to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. The weekend trips arranged by TVL were all fabulous, with nothing to fault. We were also placed at st Joseph’s hospital, and TVL handled all the paperwork, drove us there and back each day, and took us for introductions on the first day. Clever was a one of a kind coordinator. He answered our cultural questions, taught us Swahili, and gave us useful advice, including what things should cost so we wouldn't get overcharged. On our second day he showed us around town, including good ATMs, safe places to eat, and where to shop for different things. The house is simple, clean, and homey, with a lovely garden and a resident tortoise. Angela and Husna were wonderful in the kitchen. They cooked lots of delicious food, answered our questions, and even taught me how to make chipatis and tanzania pilau.

I stayed at the Tanzania Volunteers house with a friend for five weeks, and we loved every minute. The staff were wonderful, and it was lovely sharing the place with other volunteers. We felt at home very quickly. I'd definitely recommend staying here while you're in Moshi, whether you're volunteering or not.
