Tembo Beach Hotel

Renovations are needed, and construction is still underway. Maybe it’ll be much better after a while. I’d have added another star if they had slums and more shaded areas. There’s no shade in the hot sun, so you have to go indoors or into the water.

I went to the hotel twice to enjoy Lake Victoria’s beach. It’s a beautiful, quiet spot away from the bustle and heat of town. The food is wonderful and very reasonably priced. I especially recommend the beef curry and massala beef with rice. Really tasty, with a lovely lake view.

There’s a restaurant and bar, and the food is good quality for very reasonable prices. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Musoma. Pick a room in the new building. The old rooms have a nice view but are very basic and don’t have warm or hot water. Wi-Fi also needs improvement. It’s one of the few hotels around that deserves a three-star rating or higher.

The coconut trees give the place a paradise feel, and the beach is its best feature. In the rainy season, though, rising water leaves only about two meters of beach. Customer service here is subpar, like at many other places in Musoma.
