Sunshine Marine Lodge

The food was a real highlight, every meal delicious and beautifully prepared. We also felt welcomed like family from the moment we arrived, with staff going out of their way to make our stay special. We chose the resort for its on-site dive centre and were glad we did: Hamissi made our Open Water course professional, fun, and reassuring. The sea view is lovely. There's no direct beach access, but free daytime shuttles take you to nearby sister resorts, with a public or private beach to choose from. Both were fantastic, so we didn't feel we were missing out. Free daily yoga was a great way to start the day, and the spa treatments we tried were amazing. We'd definitely return.

The lush garden is the best, and there's a great dive center with an interesting reef restoration project right in front of the lodge. It's a secluded spot right by the ocean, away from Zanzibar's chaotic beaches. The rooms are very comfortable, well equipped, and spotless, and the team are lovely. Free yoga classes run every day. It seems great for any kind of traveller, whether solo like me, with family, or as a couple. Looking forward to coming back!

We wished we'd booked a longer stay. The sea view rooms are worth it, and ours was clean, comfortable, and nicely laid out. The property is beautiful and well kept, with three excellent, maintained pools and a peaceful feel from the moment we arrived. Food was consistently very good, and there was always something we liked. Diving with Dive Point Zanzibar was incredible and professionally run, and having their main office on the property was a big bonus. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the owners we met were among the most welcoming hosts we've come across. There's no dedicated play area for kids, but the nanny service was great with our little one. We'd happily come back.

We did six excellent dives with the dive shop, using good equipment and working with knowledgeable staff. The schedule was two dives a day, back around 13:00. The place itself is quiet, and the staff are friendly. Hotel and restaurant teams speak English very well and try to improve your experience where they can. Our ocean view suite looked just like it did online, and the view was amazing. We chose a top floor room and recommend it. Room service came twice daily, and the room stayed clean and free of bugs, with the bed neatly made each time. A good place to relax, especially if you're diving.
