I stayed for two nights in the women's hostel, in a four-bed room with a separate shared toilet and shower. It was perfect for my stay. A great little place near the beaches and town, with friendly staff.

The ocean is just steps away, yet it's quiet and peaceful here. The rooms are incredibly cozy, with every detail thoughtfully considered, and the breakfast was delicious and truly tropical. A wonderful location for a vacation. Huge thanks to the owner for her kindness and hospitality. We'll definitely be back!

The shared spaces made it easy to chat with other travelers or sort out day trips, and the hostel still stayed quiet enough for a good night's sleep. My room was clean, comfortable, and well kept. I also liked having AC and lockers, and the staff were welcoming from the moment I arrived and happy to suggest things to do locally. I had a great stay.

Compass Hostel is a good value, with lovely staff and some great guests to meet. The decor is really nice, and there are pleasant shared areas to spend time in. It's quiet, too, though still only about a five-minute walk from the beach and restaurants. The rooms do have a moldy smell, which I suppose isn't surprising for a tropical beach hostel.

The staff were friendly, and the beach and restaurants are very close. I liked the living room, and the beds were especially large and comfortable. It's a quiet, clean place, with hot water in the shower and a safe for valuables. Each door also has a keypad code. Power cuts seem to happen fairly often in Zanzibar, so having a generator was a real plus.
