Cristal Resort

We went for lunch after hearing the food was amazing, but came away disappointed. I ordered the prawns, listed as four on the menu, and only got two. When I asked, I was told those two were big, even though it felt like misleading advertising for an expensive dish. They then brought the other two, but they hadn’t even been cleaned. Someone else in our group ordered the chicken burger, and the chicken was raw. We won’t be back.

We came as a family of five during the festive season, so dinner was a bit hectic. I’m not sure what was happening in the kitchen, but the food was below par. The place itself is beautiful and feels safe, with lots of space to explore and things to do along the beachfront. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

The beach bar had a quaint, rustic feel, though cold beer would have made sitting there much more enjoyable. The rooms, on the other hand, fell well short of what the website and booking sites showed. Our beachfront room felt more like a backpackers’ place than the inviting, upmarket rooms pictured online. For what we paid, I expected basics like tea and coffee, a bar fridge, doormats, and a table. Cleanliness was questionable too. There were hairs on the floor in one room, and dirty surfaces with stains the cleaning staff hadn’t wiped away, so we cleaned them ourselves. Shower heads, basins, and taps were loose and poor quality. Wi-Fi barely worked in one room and was unreliable in the other.

The food at the restaurant was delicious and the service came with a smile. The beach is beautiful, with clear water in lovely colors, and it’s often breezy, so there are windsurfers from beginners to pros to watch. Our room had a spectacular beach view, but the bungalow’s bathroom and shower were really lacking. The bed shook like crazy whenever anyone even tiptoed around.
