Ikoma tented Camp

Two very kind team members stayed nearby through the night, helping with the fire and anything else we needed. We felt incredibly looked after. We came to Ikoma Tented Camp to find somewhere near Serengeti where we could camp on our car roof during a self-drive, which can be hard to arrange in this area. The secluded site, with heated showers just for us, made it a magical experience. It was a premium price at $93 for two people for one night, including camping and conservancy fees, but it was worth it. Thank you to the whole team for a night we’ll remember forever.

The peaceful setting was beautiful, and we loved spending time there. We stayed at the lodge for two nights on our safari. Everyone working there was so friendly, always smiling, and ready to help with whatever we needed.

The nights were wonderfully quiet apart from the wildlife, including hyenas calling early in the morning. We loved the fireplace and chairs outside the restaurant, and would happily spend longer here next time. The restaurant staff, especially Isa, took personal care of our food needs, while Mike at reception was friendly and helpful. Our tent near the Serengeti Ikoma gate had good privacy, was well appointed, and had a couple of chairs facing the open forest. There are no phones in the tent, so the key comes with a whistle to call for help. After dark, we were told to ask a guard to escort us to the restaurant; he scanned for wildlife with a powerful torch as we walked. Highly recommended.

I’ve stayed at Ikoma Tented Camps twice, in 2023 and 2024. The view and wildlife are hard to beat, with animals literally just outside the tent. The beds were comfortable, the water hot, and everything clean. Staff were kind and helpful, and there’s a quaint gift shop by reception with a variety of things to buy. The food was good, with several drink options too.
