Karibu Camps & Lodges – Serengeti Sametu Camp

We could watch wildlife from our room at this lodge, right in the middle of the park. Buffalo came by, and elephants walked past too. We spent two nights here on safari and had a fantastic time. The staff were friendly and knew their stuff, and the service was among the best I’ve had anywhere. I’d definitely recommend it for a Serengeti safari.

The elephants were a real highlight: big groups grazed in front of the lodge and even drank from the pool. Wildlife kept passing along the river beside Sametu Karibu Lodge, often right outside, so the stay felt wonderfully immersive. John, our butler, looked after us attentively, and the chef was happy to make custom dishes, including hamburgers. The rooms felt cozy, especially after turndown. Like other camps, it’s off-grid, so we sometimes had to ask for hot water, but that was no trouble. We had a wonderful stay, with great service and a real safari feel. Tips: John, server $40, driver $20, camp $160.

Barak was so welcoming when we ate, and whenever something came up, it was sorted out right away. The beds were comfortable, and we had plenty of space, with a sofa area and a large bathroom. We loved staying at Sametu Camp. If we make it back to the Serengeti, I’d definitely stay here again.

We saw 18 lions and 6 cheetahs in a single day in this big cat country, thanks to some very good game drives. Thank you, PATRICK! Back at camp, our butler, JOHNSON, gave us truly exceptional service and made the experience even better. We stayed three nights at Karibu Serengeti Sametu Camp. The rooms were large, luxurious, spotless, and thoughtfully equipped, with a comfortable bed, fluffy towels, and a kettle for tea and coffee. They’re spaced apart, so we didn’t hear the neighbors, though lions could be heard at night. Door to door rides between the restaurant and bar area and our room were a nice extra. The pool was clean and refreshing, and the meals were excellent, well prepared and served. An unforgettable trip!
