Mawe Luxury Tented Camp

Namiri plains was one of the most memorable parts of our stay. It’s a beautiful area where we could get away from the Central Serengeti crowds, enjoy the sounds of the bush and see cheetahs and lions. Often we were the only safari vehicle there. Mawe tented camp is in the Central/Eastern Serengeti, relatively close to Seronera airstrip and especially close to Namiri plains. At camp, the staff greeted us with warm smiles and took meticulous care of what we needed. We loved hearing lions roaring outside the tent at night and waking to spectacular sunrises. The camp is eco-friendly like the other Mawe tented camps, with solar heating. It was overcast for a couple of days, so the staff brought buckets of hot shower water each night without us asking, which was welcome after long game drives. One of us is vegetarian, and they made sure there were several options at dinner, breakfast, and in our packed lunches. We stayed three nights and wish we had more time. We heard lions and hyenas at night, and in the morning, just before leaving, saw an elephant grazing outside our tent. The tents were spotless, the beds comfortable, and it’s a kid-friendly place. Lovely sunset and sunrise views, clean, fresh, tasty meals, and the friendliest staff made the experience even better. They went beyond what we expected to accommodate our request for vegetarian Indian meals. I can’t do the hospitality justice in words. It was the best experience of my life, made even better by Mawe.

Sitting by the fire and talking under the full moon eclipse felt magical and romantic. We had an unforgettable stay at Serengeti Mawe Tented Camp. Everything was clean, comfortable, and well organized. The tents were spotless, with hot water and even a bed heater for chilly nights. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the food was amazing at every meal, including the safari lunch boxes. Highly recommended.

The staff made us feel at home right from arrival, and the stay at Mawe was one of the most incredible travel experiences we’ve had. We’d highly recommend it and hope to come back one day.
