Ngurdoto Mountain lodge

The view of Mt Meru is lovely when the weather cooperates, and it’s a beautiful place. The accommodation could be better: the rooms weren’t cleaned very well, and the bathroom drains didn’t work properly. The restaurant also needs an upgrade. Staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing, and everyone was moving around leisurely. Breakfast ranges from mediocre to good, depending on the day.

I love nature, and Ngurdoto is the place for me. Once I’m there, the stress and anxiety disappear, with clear streams and nature sounds all around.

It’s only a few minutes from the city, and the gate keepers were professional and welcoming. That was the good part. The two receptionists were unfriendly and seemed interested only in collecting the entrance fee. We sat for over 45 minutes without anyone checking whether we needed help. There was no guest Wi-Fi, the bathrooms had no soap, and the place was dusty and looked unkempt for a five-star hotel. My advice is not to pay for what you aren’t getting. Management doesn’t like giving refunds, even after multiple screw-ups.

The breakfast was poor, and management was no help. They kept giving us misinformation, including conflicting prices. The place has really fallen apart: there was no electricity or generator, no hot water, and mud came out of the sink and toilet water. The hotel key cards didn’t work, and someone in our group was robbed.
