Some of the staff were kind and did their best, but that's the only positive I can think of. I wouldn't stay here again, and I wish I'd booked somewhere else. If you're visiting Stone Town, I'd look for another place instead. I don't understand why this is listed as four-star. It felt more like a 2.5-star hotel, and I haven't found any system for hotel star ratings here in Zanzibar. From the moment I arrived, the place seemed old, dated, and depressing. My room had no air or natural light, and a bad smell that wouldn't go away. The furniture was dirty and awful, the decor felt like another century, and nothing seemed clean. The bathroom wasn't maintained well, and I didn't feel comfortable using things without wiping them down first. The hotel needs a full renovation. Breakfast was below average and unappealing, so I had to bring food from the supermarket. Even the location, which should be a plus, felt chaotic and crowded, with cars everywhere.

The staff were friendly and helped where they could, and checking in and out was easy. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom had been remodeled. Breakfast was continental with a few extra options. I didn't use the pool. It was a little small, though nice to have. Since the hotel is so central in Stone Town, having guests seemed easy and not a problem.

Right in Stonetown, this is a cute hotel with friendly staff, clean rooms, and a good breakfast included. There's a rooftop pool area, and the beds are comfortable even though the mattresses are hard. Some rooms can be quite noisy for a while at night, and the hotel isn't wheelchair accessible.

The apartments are a walk from the main hotel, and cars can't get through, which can be inconvenient if you're with a child. Rooms are decent, and the staff are great. Breakfast was average, nothing lavish. It would be helpful to have shampoo and toothpaste in the bathrooms, since guests may forget to bring their own.
