The staff are great at what they do, and the place is very clean. There’s air conditioning, and it’s a five-minute walk from the harbour. For what you get, it costs much less than other hotels with inflated prices and the same or fewer facilities. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Zanzibar, whether travelling alone, with family or in a group.

This was a lovely way to start our trip, and the price was hard to beat. The area isn’t the best, but the hotel itself is fantastic. Our room was charming, spotless and quiet, with good water pressure. Breakfast on the sunny terrace was delicious. Gertrude at reception was the sweetest person we met on the island. She was so helpful, pointing us toward good places for a drink, food and sunset, and even arranging a rental car at a very good rate. I’d love her ginger and lime juice recipe! 😄😄😄

The beds were firm and comfortable, with a good choice of pillows, and the rooms were neat little spaces. Breakfast was great, the staff were lovely, and it felt safe. It’s good value for the money. The hotel is at the north end of the sea wall, while most of the activity is down south, so expect a bit of a walk. The walk feels safe. One thing to know: despite what was advertised, the rooms don’t have safes, and the desk won’t keep valuables.

You get what you pay for. There’s quite a lot of street noise at night and early in the morning, but the sheets and large towels were clean, even though the sheets had stains. The air conditioning worked well, and I think there was hot water for the shower. It’s fine if you’re catching a ferry and won’t spend much time at the hotel.

Good value for a few nights, with a pretty good breakfast. The AC worked well, though it can get noisy at night. One heads-up, and this isn’t the hotel’s fault: it’s very close to the port, and the fumes and salty wind made my neck and lungs hurt a little.
