Jambo Guest House

Breakfast was decent and included fresh juice. The staff were professional, which in my experience can be hard to find in Zanzibar. I'd definitely recommend Jambo Guesthouse for a Stone Town stay. We had a first-floor room with a shared bathroom. Both were very clean and got attention several times during the day. In four days, our linen was changed twice.

For $15 or $20, Jambo Guest House gives you a bed with a fan and a/c, WiFi, a shared toilet, a hot shower, and a simple breakfast. It's fairly clean and quiet, with not too many mosquitoes. It's no grand vizier's old residence, but for a budget room in Stone Town, it's okay for the money.

It's only a 2-minute walk to one of the main roads, where you can find an economical lunch or dinner that's nutritious and good. The old fort, beach, and Forodhani night food stalls are a 7-minute walk away. Even so, the guesthouse is quiet, with no traffic and not many tourists around. The breakfast is delicious and filling, a nice start to the day. The staff are kind and welcoming, and look after your needs to help make the visit comfortable. After a day touring, there's hot water for a shower, and the air conditioning and ceiling fan are most welcome. If you want a comfortable, safe, quiet budget place for one night or, like me, even weeks, this could suit you.

Breakfast is included, and there's a nice spot just across the way to eat or have juice. They offer tours like the spice tour and prison tour. Good value for the price. If you stay two nights, pickup from the airport is free. You can also leave your things there for a few days if you're going to another part of the island.
