I liked the old building and its Stone Town character, and at the prices I found, the stay felt like good value. It’s only about a five-minute walk to the port and close to the Zanzibar Ferry Terminal. The hotel seems to have just three floors, so it was quiet. My spacious room had two beds, a big desk, a small wardrobe, and a cosy balcony tucked behind thick, beautiful trees, away from the street. Breakfast on the rooftop gave me a view of the ocean weather and the town waking up, and in the evening I could watch the sunset from there. The drawbacks were no Wi-Fi and, if I remember right, no hot water. That didn’t bother me in Zanzibar. With Wi-Fi, it would be perfect for the price.

Amini, the manager at Warren House, was a legend and helped me with everything. Before I left, breakfast on the terrace was a wonderful experience: African-style pancakes, bread, butter, jam, tea or coffee, omelettes, and seasonal fruit. It’s a historic place and a must for anyone who loves history. Thanks again, I’ll be back soon.

It’s easy to miss the place because there’s no street sign and it sits among a bunch of other buildings, so take a taxi or get clear directions. Once there, I found it quiet and safe to walk to at night. I stayed twice and loved the charming old-style rooms, with all their artistic details. They were clean and everything worked. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, and I really enjoyed the spice tour I booked through them. Little touches were great too, from the spiced soap and good breakfast to the honor bar where you can buy a drink at any hour.

We were there in May when it was quiet, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. They arranged taxis for us and suggested a nearby beach. The building is cool, with lots of original Arabic architecture, and the rooms are cosy and distinctive, with balconies and A/C. It’s at the edge of Stonetown, just a three-minute walk from the ferry, so getting into town is easy while the immediate area stays quiet.

It’s easy to get around Stone Town on foot from here. The place was quiet, the room was clean and nice, and check-in went smoothly. Everyone who welcomed us was friendly and helpful. I loved the tasty breakfast, and the rooftop drinks fridge runs on an honour system, which was refreshing to see. I had a great stay and would come back.
