Fumba Beach Lodge

The lodge is right by the beach, which is really convenient. We loved the experience and found the atmosphere relaxing and culturally enriching.

The rooms were idyllic, the food exceptional, and the staff and facilities superb. This felt like a magical hideaway, with only a limited number of cabins but lots of different spots to relax. We loved sitting through happy hour, which often became two hours before dinner, watching gorgeous sunsets over the water. The staff were more than happy to accommodate last minute changes to our plans. We booked a Stone Town trip the evening before, and on our last day we went on the picnic and snorkeling excursion after weather had made us cancel the day before.

Waking up to the ocean is such a treat, and the sunsets are the best in the world, especially with a cold beer or cocktail. It’s a perfect place to relax. Someone in our group had been injured earlier in the trip, and we really appreciated the care and compassion, especially from the management team.

We had three nights of incredible sunsets and fantastic views, service, and food. Fumba made for a great vacation. Sharon, the manager, was very friendly and made sure the guests were happy with their stay. The resident monkeys were especially entertaining. Just be ready for no air-conditioning and maybe a salamander or two in the rooms. The only thing I’d change is adding a standing floor fan, since the ceiling fan wasn’t very effective.
