The evening entertainment was a treat, especially the impressive dancers from Nungwi and Stone Town. We also took some great trips, including Prison Island and Stone Town, a beautiful catamaran ride to Mnemba for snorkeling, and an amazing safari to Tanzania. We loved our two weeks and would love to return to Riu Palace. The layout was lovely, with rooms spread through two-floor buildings in a garden beside the stunning beach in Nungwi. Our junior suite was spacious, with a big bathroom, and the bed was decorated with flowers each day. Everything was so clean, even the public toilets, which seemed to be cleaned constantly. The food was varied and tasty, with lots of wonderful fruit and vegetables. From reception and the gardeners to the restaurant, pool, bar, and cleaning staff, everyone greeted us with a big smile and a friendly “Jambo,” meaning hi. The service was outstanding. The beach was just down a short set of stairs, and the views from the pool and main restaurant were beautiful.

The atmosphere was so relaxing, and we felt looked after from the moment we arrived. Everyone on staff was welcoming, attentive, and exceptionally kind. Meals were delicious and varied, with thoughtfully prepared food every day. A memorable resort with great service and cuisine. Highly recommended.

The beach was clean and pleasant, and a range of water sports came with the room. The location is excellent. Rooms are large, very clean, and the housekeeping team works quickly and efficiently. Staff across all levels were courteous and excellent. The buffet offered good quality and plenty of choice at every meal, and the three speciality restaurants were great too. I highly recommend the hotel.

Our flight was delayed, so we reached the hotel at night, but the team helped us get the rooms we’d requested. We were there for my husband’s 70th birthday and had a great time. The resort was clean, and the food and service were superb. Narayan in the dining hall took wonderful care of us, including making sure my granddaughter had bland food prepared for her, which I really appreciated. Lorena helped us with a late checkout. All the staff were kind and friendly. I’d highly recommend Riu Palace. Thank you.

It would be nice if the hotel went back to its adults-only concept. There weren’t many children during my stay, luckily, but this sort of place seems suited to adults only. One thing that sometimes felt like too much was being asked every five minutes how my day was or how I slept. I wanted to wear a T-shirt saying, “I was already asked, thank you,” or even “stop asking!!!” Still, the staff were professional, friendly, and ready to answer questions or sort out problems. Special thanks to Martin and Helen at Restaurant “Promenade,” Maria at reception, and Veronica in the Spa for a very good massage. The hotel is the best on Zanzibar, as it could hardly be better. The large, beautiful park felt like paradise, with a nice beach, tasty and varied restaurant food, beautiful suites, and cleanliness throughout.
