On the north-eastern shores of Zanzibar, the hotel is a 45-minute drive from Stone Town. The roads are mainly tarmac but for the last twenty minutes may be a rougher ride. The hotel is a 45-minute drive from Zanzibar Airport. Hotel facilities include a TV lounge, a bar and a highly recommended restaurant. All accommodation units have full en suite bathrooms and outdoor showers, and the deluxe villas feature private hot tubs. A king-size bed, mini fridge and a private balcony or terrace also feature as standard. There are plenty of sun loungers and towels on offer for guests, as well as a poolside snack bar. Guests can treat themselves to a soothing massage or spa treatment, and other sport and leisure activities available. Lunch and dinner can be selected from a set menu, and dinner is also served as a buffet. Scubafish Zanzibar is our onsite 5 star Padi Dive Centre offering all Padi courses, excellent diving equipment and half day and full day snorkeling trips to the famous Mnemba Atoll reefs.

The resort has a great atmosphere and sits right by a silver-white beach lined with swaying palms. The staff are outstanding. If this isn’t the best spot in Zanzibar, it’s very close.

It’s in a very calm area, with a few small restaurants nearby. The minimarkets are tiny local shops with only a few products, and drinks at the bar are fairly priced. The staff try as much as they can to keep everyone happy. My ratings: location 5/5, cleanliness 4/5, reception 5/5, room furniture 4/5, lighting 4/5, room smell 3/5, room cleaning staff 3/5, pool 5/5, pool cleanliness 3/5, breakfast 3/5, dinner 3/5, food taste 3/5, variety 3/5, freshness 5/5, beach area 4/5, beach cleanliness 5/5, checkout staff 5/5, Wi-Fi 4/5. There’s no TV. I’d put it at 3.5-4 stars, with plenty of room to improve. I’d recommend it 80%.

A real gem. The setting is beautiful and worked well for both relaxing and exploring nearby. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated, and the staff were so friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. Highly recommended!

We stayed in August 2025 and really liked the beautiful gardens. The hotel was good, the staff were friendly and ready to help, and housekeeping did a great job. Reception also made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. Highly recommend.

We had a fantastic time at the Kena. The reef walk was such a treat, and the scuba fish diving school on site was great too. Our room was spacious, well equipped, and very clean, with a fab outdoor shower. The food was great, and all the staff were attentive and lovely to chat with. Thanks from rooms 129 and 131. We’ll recommend you to all our friends 😃
