Griboff Hotel

You can eat at the hotel or find places to eat within walking distance, and the staff are helpful and friendly. Prices are average, though breakfast costs extra. The city center is convenient in some ways, but the spit and its decent beaches mean taking a taxi or minibus. Rooms in the two main buildings look like a cheap brothel. The summer building is more like standard resort accommodation, with a bed, shower, TV, refrigerator, and air conditioning, though the plumbing is worn.

The location was the best part for us, just a three-minute walk to the Ferris wheel, and it was quieter than Primorskaya Square. We stayed in July 2020. The grounds are small but clean and cared for, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was tasty, though the same each day. The room was average. For Berdyansk, this is a very good hotel with a pool at a reasonable price.

The pool had rubbish in it. They do clean it now and then, but rarely, and there were rats running around the hotel grounds too. Our room was dirty, with hair, spilled drinks, and grime left by previous guests. Even drinking water, a hair dryer, or an iron costs extra, around 25-30 UAH each. We asked for a late checkout when we arrived, but the receptionist apparently missed that and called our room at 12:05, just after the usual noon checkout. I went there for breakfast, but the food didn't seem fresh.

The breakfasts were delicious and home-cooked, and the pool was clean. It's a pleasant, tidy hotel in a central spot, handy for getting around Berdyansk. We did have a late check-in, and the batteries in the TV and air conditioner remotes hadn't been replaced.
