We only stopped in by chance, and I’m so glad we did. They sell homemade cheese, jams, and other things, and the owner clearly pays attention to every detail. This is seriously the best bakery and cafe in the Carpathians, maybe even all of Ukraine. It beats any hipster cafe in Kyiv. A must stop.

Ms. Natalia, I want to leave some feedback for you to consider. First, you’re a great guy, but there’s a but. Two years ago, everything I bought from you was delicious, and I picked up treats every day. Last year, the quality was hit and miss, and the croissants were a real letdown. This year I bought my favorite Uzhgorod cake, and it was awful. It leaked even though I took it straight from the refrigerator to the table. A small cake cost 500 UAH, plus another 50 UAH for packaging, which some people don’t even want. It feels expensive. The experience has put me off so much that I didn’t even want to buy bread, even though your bread was incredible two years ago.

There’s a bakery in the yard with delicious pastries, which are just the thing for breakfast. The owners will also make sure forgotten belongings get returned, and send them by new mail. They offer discounts for UBD. It’s a lovely, cozy place that feels like home. If you come to the Carpathians to spend time in the mountains rather than stay inside all day, this is a great spot for a quiet rest and a comfortable night’s sleep.
