Light Hotel

I stayed here many times in 2023 and early 2024, when it was a good hotel. That's no longer my experience, and I won't return. We had a bad experience with the receptionist and staff, and the customer service was poor. They weren't truthful about why the A/C wasn't working. First they said it was switched off because it was October, even though it was +26 C outside. When I asked them to turn it on, the explanation changed to the system being broken altogether. A/C works in every other hotel in the city. It seems they just want to save on electricity and leave both Ukrainian and international visitors without it. I don't recommend this place to travellers who expect basic hotel and hospitality standards. Avoid it at all costs.

The food was a highlight of my stay at Light Hotel in Penang, Malaysia. The breakfast buffet had a great range of Malaysian dishes, all rich and aromatic. I especially loved the nasi lemak, with its spicy sambal, coconut rice, and crispy anchovies. There was plenty to choose from, including roti canai and dim sum, and it was clear the chefs take pride in showing off Malaysia's varied food traditions. My room was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully decorated in a modern style. The bed was very comfortable after a day exploring Penang, and the room had a well-stocked mini-bar, a state-of-the-art television, and a luxurious bathroom with all the essentials. Light Hotel clearly cares about guest comfort. The hotel also has a well-equipped fitness center, a beautiful pool, and a relaxing spa. Its central location made it easy to get to Penang Hill, Kek Lok Si Temple, and George Town's famous street art. From arrival to checkout, the service was excellent. Mrs. Pabitra, Mrs. Sureetha, and Mr. Sivaji at reception greeted me warmly and professionally. They were eager to help and gave useful information about the hotel amenities, local attractions, and places to eat. The team worked well together and made me feel welcome from the start. I had a memorable stay, with luxurious accommodations, delicious food, and wonderful hospitality. Mrs. Pabitra, Mrs. Sureetha, and Mr. Sivaji made the visit even better. It's one of the best hotel stays I've had, and I'd recommend Light Hotel to anyone visiting Penang, for business or leisure. I look forward to returning to this beautiful island.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was perfect, and the restaurant was excellent. The staff were friendly, with English-speaking staff and menus available in English. The coffee wasn't free, which was my one wish, but otherwise I'd recommend the hotel.

The Standard Plus rooms are great, with plenty of space for a couple, a large comfortable bed, and a quiet atmosphere. Breakfast is included. The whole hotel feels fresh, very clean, and well built, with extra care given to comfort and detail. Love it!
