Art Villa on Sumskaya Street

We wanted to spend a few days in central Kharkiv, but this place was a bad choice. The rooms were dusty and shamefully dirty, and it seemed like they weren't cleaned properly very often. The sheets looked like they were from the 70s, which is embarrassing to hand to guests. You can hear every little rustle and knock, so getting a decent night's sleep was impossible, and the internet barely worked. The staff were another problem. They treated us like poor relatives, as if we'd come to visit them. Cheap doesn't mean good, and I'll never stay here again.

For a short stay on a budget, this is a good option. It's right in the city center on Sumskaya Street, and the rooms come fully equipped. The price is excellent for what you get. There's parking in the adjoining courtyard, though there's not much space.

We came as a fairly large group and had rooms with different, creative themes. When an emergency meant we needed one more room, preferably a larger one, the receptionist managed to help us out. The rooms were cozy and clean, with hot water and a little kitchen that had everything needed, almost like a mini-apartment. Staff were helpful, and the place is affordable and central, yet tucked away in a quiet courtyard.

After six hours without electricity, we had to leave, and then got a huge amount of negativity from the staff. The power had been unstable, with the lights and heating cutting out. Wi-Fi was almost nonexistent, so we used mobile internet. The room was dirty and the floors were unsanitary. We even stopped asking for cleaning because afterward the whole bathroom smelled of urine. The staff were unbelievably rude and uncouth. Avoid this place. I highly recommend it!!! Adding to my review: I have recordings of the phone calls. If management keeps speaking to me this way, I'll publish them to show how outrageously your employees communicate. The electrical panel is in a utility room in a nearby building, and the alleged outage is a lie. The electricians confirmed the breaker is completely worn out, but you won't replace it because you're cheapskates. The room was in a disgusting sanitary state, and we spent our time cleaning after we arrived instead of relaxing. Stop pretending you're nice and cuddly, and improve the hotel's service. Replace the staff, all of them. Good luck in business.
