Rymarska Apart Hotel

The location is wonderful, and the receptionist was friendly. The room had been cleaned well, even though everything in it was old. But the price is VERY high for what you get. This is a former communal apartment turned into a hostel, with very old renovation and rickety, broken furniture. The entrance hall is old, ugly and dirty, and the walls and floors have holes and stains. There was a strong draft from the windows, and it was very cold. They gave us a heater, but it barely helped, and the room was hardly warmer than outside. The double room had a thin, single-size blanket. There was an old down comforter in the closet, but it was dusty and stained, and scary to touch. The bedding and towels were very old and faded. They wash the sheets and towels in the hallway after previous guests, then dry them there on a rack. The washing machine noise is almost constant. There was no heated towel rail, so we dried our clothes by the heater. Hair dryers are available on request, but they're tiny and don't dry anything. The location is lovely, though. I'd look for another hotel on the same street.

We hadn't planned to stay here. Our realtor cancelled our apartment at the last minute and moved us here for 750 UAH a night. The bathroom was decent, and the air conditioning was useful in the heat. But the walls have no soundproofing at all, so you can hear neighbors' conversations word for word without even turning on the TV. The mattress creaked so loudly it woke me up. These are rooms in a renovated large shared apartment.

I usually read reviews before checking in, but we still ended up disappointed. The location is the only real plus. The toilet pump is loud, and through the thin walls you can hear the pumps in neighboring rooms in the middle of the night, along with other noises. The mattress springs squeak with the slightest movement, and those anti-massage springs kept us from getting a good night's sleep. For a proper night's rest, the location isn't worth the tradeoff.

I was only there because I needed somewhere to spend the night, and it had what I needed: three clean towels, air conditioning, a kettle, fridge, TV, stovetop, disposable slippers, shampoo and gel. The bed was a bit worn, and the shower stall could use some attention. Still, I've stayed in places that cost more and were worse, so I'd pick this option again.
