Amarant Hotel

The room felt like a prison cell, and the location was bad. For what you get, the hotel is expensive, and cleaning didn't happen until after 6 pm. I wouldn't have minded that timing if they'd handled my late checkout request properly, since my train wasn't until 9 pm. The receptionist offered me a free 2 pm checkout without checking room availability on the computer. The hotel was mostly empty, and I had another seven-day booking there after a three-day gap, but none of that seemed to matter. The manager then messaged me saying I could get those seven days cheaper if I cancelled the booking on booking.com. When I explained what had happened with checkout, he replied with talk about housekeeping schedules and other nonsense. After I left a 4/10 rating on booking.com, he sent an aggressive message on whats up, accusing me of damaging Ukrainian business and saying I was blocked from all hotels in the network. Horrible experience.

I slept really well in the comfortable bed, and the room was clean with a very nice smell. It was quiet, even though busy streets were close by, and the price felt great for the quality. The staff went out of their way to make me comfortable. AC was a lifesaver in the 30 degree heat, and the internet had no issues or delays during my business video call. I'd stay here again.

The room rate was good value, and the staff were always friendly and smiling, which was a real plus. I spent three pleasant nights at Amarant, mostly out during the day for work, but each evening I came back to a clean, comfortable room. Breakfast was decent, though nothing special. The hotel's theme colour is a bit shocking to my taste, but since it gives the hotel its name, I suppose it's hard to change :-)

The hotel was clean and nicely priced, and breakfast had a decent range of options. The scrambled eggs were cold, though. I was among the first down for breakfast, so maybe the heater wasn't working. Staff never smiled and looked at you as if you'd done something wrong.
