BALLET Hostel

I stayed here before the pandemic and had a great time. Our room was right beside reception, but it wasn’t noisy at all, and everything was very clean. The receptionists were lovely, friendly, and helpful even when we struggled with the language. Valentyna showed us places on maps and explained how to get around, including pointing us to a great budget restaurant chain. Restaurants, cafes, Globus Mall, Independence Square, and the Khreshchatyk metro station are all nearby. I’m looking forward to coming back.

The location is handy, with Independence Square and Khreshchatik Street just around the corner and plenty of bars and inexpensive restaurants nearby. Breakfast is served in the hotel. I was traveling with an acquaintance, and we got a super tiny room with a double deck bed, but it was more than enough for sleeping overnight. A good little hostel.

Kiew is a wonderful city, but this hostel was the opposite. They gave us a room, then when we went out for coffee they handed it to other people. We had to find somewhere else to stay, and it was almost night. I’ve never had that happen before. It felt horrible and unprofessional, so be careful trusting them. The woman at reception was unfriendly, the rooms are in the cellar, and one bathroom was out of order. There are many nicer, friendlier hostels in Kiew.

I only stayed one night and mostly kept to myself, went to bed and rested. When I woke up, the receptionist had noticed my birthday in my passport details and arranged a surprise chocolate cake from a patisserie. It must have cost nearly as much as my fee. In five months of staying in hostels, I haven’t had service this good.
