I've stayed here twice because the good points work for me. The price is very low, the rooms are new, and the shower is right in the room with a really clean finish. Plumbing and sockets seem safe, everything's clean with no vermin, and the Kiev neighborhood is good, about a 5-10 minute walk from the Metro. There are downsides: it can get loud outside, sometimes from the army or drunk students. The metal bed frame isn't comfortable unless you cover it, and there's not much furniture or cutlery. Still, I feel the positives outweigh those issues. I can wear earplugs and put an airbed over the frame.

The apartment itself was clean, elegant, and very nice, and the prices were decent. The bed could've been softer, though. My airport ride cost 500 when Uber would've been 380. Someone did meet me at the airport with a sign, but I don't think that justified the difference.

Saturday's construction started at 06:00 and went on until 22:00. Noise was also constant through the day because of the military school. The room wasn't ready when I arrived, and a housemaid came into the apartment without permission. Getting there was a struggle. There's only one street to the building, and if you don't know the right way, you can spend an hour searching. Even the taxi driver didn't know where to go. There were no signs for newcomers, and I waited 30 minutes outside before the key keeper arrived, in 35 Celsius sun. There was no parking, air conditioning, or balcony.

It was cold and noisy, and we should've checked the reviews before booking. There are lots of better places in Kiev. The location wasn't great either, the taxi driver couldn't find the hotel.

We left just a few hours after checking in. In sub zero weather, there was one useless heater for three people and two beds. The hot water stopped after 15 minutes, the wiring was exposed, and there were no smoke detectors. I could keep listing things. At least there weren't rats, though they probably couldn't have lived in that cold anyway. The next place we moved to wasn't great, but it did have the two things we needed: heat and hot water. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.
