The room was huge, with a bathtub, and the door was repaired right away when it broke. The staff were super friendly and organized a Chernobyl trip for my group for the next day. I visited in 2021, and I know this review is late, but I got annoyed reading the other comments while browsing around. You can park a car here, and the location is right at the Maydan, with the Billa supermarket downstairs in the metro station. From my room balcony, I could enjoy wine with an uninterrupted view of the Maydan, then go to bed. People complain that it’s old and Soviet, but to me that’s a free way to experience old Soviet times without going to a museum. I can’t think of a better hotel in Kiev. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. The photo was taken right from my balcony.

The location makes it easy to get to shopping, nightlife, and all kinds of food. Breakfast is free, with a good choice, though it’s very basic. The bedding was clean and changed daily. Reception were helpful, spoke English, and offered me a different room when I had trouble figuring out the door lock. The place is very basic and some things feel tired, so it’s not the Hilton. There’s no safe, but security can look after valuables if you ask. You need cash at reception because they don’t take cards, although there are card machines everywhere.

The restaurant and breakfast were good, and the staff were friendly. But I was grossed out when a cleaner changed my toilet brush, then changed my bedding, including the pillowcases, without washing her hands. I wanted to scream, but kept it to myself. The hotel also doesn’t provide washcloths for showering.

There are plenty of places to eat nearby, and the location is right in the center with great views all around. It’s a good place to spend one night if you want to admire the fountain views and be close to the center while getting a feel for the area. The rooms and service, though, need a major overhaul.
