Radisson Blu Hotel, Kyiv Podil City Centre

The rooms and facilities are great, but the bartender's attitude made us feel unwelcome, so we started going to bars nearby. Whenever we asked for a beer, he acted as though we owed him something or were interrupting something more important than serving us. Two other guests we met had the same impression.

The room was comfortable and lovely, and the housekeeper was very attentive. The hotel is in a fantastic location. I ordered a taxi from the airport, and the driver was already waiting when I arrived. On the way in, he told me a lot about the city and the attractions worth seeing. I really enjoyed my stay.

The housekeeping was excellent, but the service overall gets two out of ten. The receptionist is never at the desk, and I once waited half an hour just to extend my stay. The food quality was disgusting. If you know what a club sandwich is, the one at Radison isn’t what it used to be. This is unacceptable.

The beds were comfortable, staff were really friendly, and breakfast had lots of good options. They even gave me an excellent bagged breakfast for an early departure one day. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within a short walk, too. But the hotel needs updating. My room stayed at 23°C or warmer despite setting the AC to 20, so with nights at 0°C or below I sometimes opened the window. On the third day, the toilet and faucet started spitting air and rusty water. The seventh floor smelled of moldy carpet throughout my stay; the shower tile needed replacing, and its main shower head didn't work, though the hand sprayer did. One light flickered, and its switch made sparking sounds.
