Staro Hotel

The laundry prices were the one real shock, excessive to say the least. Breakfast was fine, though nothing special. Otherwise, this was very good value at £50 per room per night. My room was spacious and had a small balcony, the bed was comfortable, and the A/C worked well. The furnishings all seemed in good condition, so the hotel appears fairly new, though the dark wood wasn’t to my taste. Staff were friendly and helpful, and both receptionists spoke good English. My colleague and I stayed two nights on a recent trip to Kiev, and I’ll almost certainly book here again next time.

There’s free parking behind the hotel, supervised and staffed 24/7. I first picked this place for its location after trying several other hotels, but I keep coming back because everything is so well organized and the staff are lovely. It has a wonderfully familiar feel, and you can tell the team enjoy working together. They’re helpful and accommodating, and the rooms and services are excellent.

The main drawback was the limited English at reception. Everyday communication was fine, but sorting out anything more complicated could be difficult. Otherwise, it’s a cozy, welcoming hotel in a pleasant area. The guard at the entrance always greeted us with a smile, and we had everything we needed. Room service was reasonably priced compared with other European countries.

The location is a little outside the town centre, though still close enough to get around easily. It wasn’t an issue for me since Uber is very cheap in Kiev. For the price, this is a tidy, very nice hotel. The room was a decent size, clean, and furnished with modern appliances and furniture. Staff were friendly and did their jobs well. Breakfast was a real plus, enjoyable and with a much better selection than at similar hotels I’ve stayed in.
