Sunday Apart Hotel

We stayed four nights in June. The location is excellent and the room was clean, though the staff were only somewhat helpful. The bathroom ventilation is a big problem, and it smells unless you use room fragrance. If you’re after a good, inexpensive location and don’t mind spending time in the room, this could work. Otherwise, there are much better choices.

I can’t say anything about the apartment itself because I was never allowed to check in. The hotel canceled my reservation after I couldn’t answer a call before arrival, even though it was guaranteed with a credit card. They gave my room to someone else, and I ended up on the street at night looking for another hotel. There was no apology or help. Not every airline lets you take calls during a flight, and I hope the owners learn from this so nobody else gets put in the same situation. I wouldn’t trust this hotel to honor a booking.

For the price, the location is hard to beat. It’s right in central Kiev, with amenities nearby and Maidan Square and Khristatik Avenue about a five-minute walk away. There’s also a small built-in kitchen if you want to cook. My only real downside was the cable TV, which only had Ukrainian channels. Great value in a great spot.

I had a great stay and would definitely return on my next trip to Kyiv. The room was very nice, and the location is excellent, just a few meters from the Golden Gates and its metro station. The receptionists were great and spoke English, at least the younger ones.
